Important things you need to know when submitting an article/review:
- "Articles" pertain to any written work that you may submit. The types of articles we are looking for are about funny/twisted/stupid stories, commentaries (opinions about politics, the economy, the music scene, corporate America, whatever), informational or instructional works, or any other information that may be of interest to visitors of this site. "Reviews" pertain to a commentary about a particular concert (or band/album, in some cases) that you have experienced in some way. Please see near the bottom of this page for more information about writing reviews for this site.
- By submitting a writing of any sort, you are stating that it is your own, original work. If we find out that you stole and submitted someone else's work, we will pull any and everything you ever submitted off of this site, and you will be banned from contributing to it for life. If the person you stole from chooses to bring legal actions upon you, we will provide any evidence we may have to them. We do not tolerate plagiarism.
- Although we encourage free speech and discourage censorship, we will not post anything that promotes or encourages sexism, racism, or anything illegal and creepy (this means no stories about the last time you had sex with an underage midget, a dog, and your mom all at the same time). Articles that mention such things for the purpose of complaining about, or referencing in a general fashion, are usually acceptable. Hey, it's not that I want to censor you, it's that I don't need FBI agents calling me to ask why I have the aforementioned sex story displayed on my site.
- All written information and any other media found on this site are solely owned and copyrighted by us. However, the words that you write will always belong to you. If someone copies-and-pastes your article from this website, they are screwing both of us. Anywhere that your words appear should have your name on it, otherwise it is plagiarism and copyright infringement. To recap, if you submit an article, it is still your article, but it is on this site, so stealing that article is stealing from you as well as us.
- Any article submitted to us will be read by us to make sure the content of it is acceptable for this site, but it will also be proofread for spelling and obvious grammar mistakes. I don't expect everyone to have perfect spelling and grammar, but I personally just happen to be a real prick when it comes to these things. Although we will never alter your written ideas or thoughts, we may fix spelling mistakes and/or grammatical errors because frankly, I have wicked O.C.D. and those are things that make me grind my teeth when I see them.
- As of right now, we are unable to compensate anyone in any way for writing an article to be posted on this site. Eventually I hope to have an actual team of columnists and concert reviewers, but funds don't permit it at this time. You will, however, get a free, permanent place on the web for your work to be shown for the world to see. We will also include with your article any other information you want us to, such as a contact email address, a photo, a link to your own website, etc.
- If you submit an article and it is really good stuff, we may ask you to write some more for us. If you write 5 or more articles/reviews for us, I will give you a separate, personal page on this site that is all about you. I'll put whatever you want on it....photos, artwork, your hobbies, your resume...need I go on? Like I said in the above paragraph, we can't pay you as of right now, but if you become a regular writer for this site, you are likely to be asked to be one of those regular columnists that I hope to hire sometime in the future.
- Another part of this site is about local shows. If you've seen a particularly good or particularly bad concert recently, tell us about it. All the same rules for articles apply to reviews that are submitted to this site.
If you have read and agree to all of the above statements...
